How Employer Branding Can Save You Money

Your business has a brand that helps you attract customers and clients. Whether you know it or not, your business also has an employer brand, which is important to the people you hire. Your employer brand is basically how you’re viewed as an employer, and it can have a major impact on your job searches and your bottom line.

Attract more candidates

According to research by LinkedIn, 75% of job seekers say they consider an employer’s brand before they even apply for a job. Similarly, a study by Jobvite found that 46% of job seekers rate the company’s culture as very important in deciding whether to apply for a job. A strong reputation can thus result in more candidates for you to choose from, with less effort on your part.

Hire top talent

A better employee brand can shorten your costly job searches and reduce the amount of money you have to spend on marketing and advertising to reach top candidates. LinkedIn found that companies with strong employer brands accelerated their job searches, and Jobvite found that 15% of job seekers have turned down a job offer because of a company’s culture.

Stop overpaying

If you don’t have a strong employer brand, you may have to offer candidates a higher salary to convince them to work for you. If you pay even a $1,000 premium per employee, that quickly adds up to tens of thousands of dollars that could be better spent elsewhere in your company.

With a better employer brand, the opposite is true: You may be able to attract and hire top talent, even if a competitor offers a slightly higher salary — reputation matters that much.

Retain the best employees

Jobvite found that nearly 30% of job seekers have left a job within the first 90 days — and 32% said they did so because of the company’s culture. Conversely, when employees like working for a company, they’re more likely to stay for years. Their job satisfaction helps improve your employer brand, and it reduces the amount of time and money you have to spend on recruiting, hiring, and training new employees.
